"Dancing with the Stars" fans have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of the upcoming season 8 cast joaillier des stars. They finally found out that not only are some of their favorite celebrities on the show, but also some real life couples. But, don't look for another spry octogenarian like Cloris Leachman this season - the oldest contestant is 58!
This year, ABC decided to reveal the cast during their Sunday night lineup of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," "Desperate Housewives," and "Brothers & Sisters." The brother and sister duo of Donny and Marie Osmond had alluded to the fact that Donny would appear in season 8, but when the official roster was announced, his name was no where to be found.
Here are the contestants:
Belinda Carlisle - Belinda is the lead singer for the all girl's new wave band The Go-Go's, but she also had a successful solo career after the breakup of the band.
Steve-O - Steve-O has already earned fame on one reality show - "Jackass." But, will his recent erratic behavior and past drug addiction hinder his dancing abilities? Only time will tell.
David Alan Grier - David was one of the original members of the cutting edge comedy show "In Living Color." If David doesn't do any better than past funnymen on the show (Jeffrey Ross, Kenny Mayne, and Adam Carolla), he won't be on the show for very long.
Shawn Johnson - At age 17, Shawn is the youngest "Dancing with the Stars" contestant ever. She won a gold medal for gymnastics in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Jewel Kilcher - Jewel is a singer, songwriter, actress, and poet who has received three Grammy nominations. Competition might be tough for her though, as she will be competing against her husband Ty.
Ty Murray - Ty is a former rodeo star who is the current president of the Professional Bull Riding, Inc. (PBR). He married his longtime girlfriend Jewel in August 2008.
Lil' Kim - Lil' Kim is a Grammy Award winning female rapper - the first to go to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. She is another contestant this year with a troubled past - Lil' Kim served a year and a day at the Philadelphia Detention Center in 2005 for conspiracy and perjury.
Gilles Marini - Gilles brings an international flavor to the eighth season. This French born model and actor is best known for his appearance as Samantha's oh-so-hot neighbor in "Sex and the City: The Movie."
Nancy O'Dell - Nancy is a co-host of "Access Hollywood" who also serves as a contributor for the "Today Show" and "Dateline NBC." Most recently, Nancy hosted the pre-show for the 66th Annual Golden Globes.
Denise Richards - Fresh off her own reality show "Denise Richards: It's Complicated," Denise is also an actress and former model who has been in the headlines for her repeated custody battles with ex-husband Charlie Sheen.
Lawrence Taylor - The only other athlete on the show this season, Lawrence is a former All-American linebacker who is now in the NFL Hall of Fame. He played for the New York Giants and is considered by many to be one of the greatest defensive players in the NFL's history.
Chuck Wicks - Chuck is a country singer who participated in the reality show "Nashville." He also has a famous girlfriend - Julianne Hough joeweller. Rumors are that even though Julianne said she would not be returning this season, not only will she return, but she will be partnered with Chuck.
Steve Wozniak - Probably the least familiar of the celebrity names, Steve is a computing legend, having been a co-founder of Apple Computer with Steve Jobs. A billionaire philanthropist, Steve once dated comedienne Kathy Griffin.
Rumors are that another "So You Think You Can Dance" alumni, Chelsie Hightower, will be joining her former competitor Lacey Schwimmer on the show this year. Returning are newly engaged couple Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff.
